Tattoo Aftercare
After your tattoo Appointment , tattoo artist will give you verbal instructions on care tailored to you and your new tattoo. The healing phase varies depending on care, skin type and body part.
In order for the healing to take place in the best possible way, please follow these instructions:
-
do not perform any movement-intensive activities after tattooing
-
second skin can stay on for 24 hours to 72 hours
-
afterwards clean the tattoo with clear water and ph-neutral soap, in case of need you can also use normal hand soap
-
then let the wound air dry or gently dab it dry
-
afterwards apply a thin layer of a tattoo cream/natural oil
-
the first five days shower quickly, let water, shampoo and shower gel only run over it - do not scrub!
-
thinly apply moisturiser on the tattoo at least 3 times a day during the first 2 weeks to protect the skin from dehydration
-
from the 3rd week, apply thin moisturiser 1-2 times a day
-
no sport for at least one week
In general, during the healing phase should be noted:
-
do not overstretch the tattooed area, be careful during sports and other physical activities
-
avoid hot tub and swimming during the first three weeks
-
avoid contact with dirt
-
itching is part of the healing process - do not scratch, otherwise colour pigments could be torn out
-
avoid solarium and direct sunlight for 4 to 6 weeks
-
put on sunblock 30+ on the tattooed area whenever your tattoo is exposed to the sun
-
little stress and physical strain, plenty of sleep and a healthy diet support the body's wound healing process
Swelling and bruising may occur during the first few days. These are due to injury and no reason to worry. Please send me photos of your tattoo about three weeks after for a visual inspection of the tattoo. The re-colouring must take place within the next 3 months.
